yeah, sounds like you're not getting output from the stator - there are ways of testing it but they're usually very engine-specific. sorry I'm not familiar with your particular motor- is that an inboard, if so you might get a better response over in the "Mercruiser, Volvo and OMC I/O or Inboard" section of the forum......if you can get your hands on a repair manual, it would have the specs......
what I would do first, if ya haven't already, is make sure all the wiring from stator to rectifier to battery, and all the battery cables, are in good condition free from corrosion - make 'em tight & bright, I mean clean & shiny, look for missing/burned/chafed insulation - could have unseen corrosion under damaged insulation.
