I'm a little lost as to how long it takes to charge trolling motor batteries. I have a 2,6, & 10 amp battery charger. I am charging two batterie at the sametime at 2 amp's. I started charging both batteries at 6am this morning they have been charging for about 16.5 hours. the battery charger is still showing 2.5amp. How long does it take too chage two batteries. Or am I doing something wrong.

Thanks Mav.

That's 1 amp per batt, more or less. Yep, gonna take a long time. Why 2 amp and not 10?

It depends on how far they are discharged. If they are down, say a total of 40 amp/hours each, well you can do the math. Bump up the charger.

Re: ChargingTrolling Motor Batteries

Batteries can be safely charged at up to 20% of their AHr capacity. 100 AHr = 20 amps. There is no reason whatsoever to be charging batteries at a very slow 2 amp rate. It takes forever and the batteries want to be charged quickly. If 2 amps was the recommended charge rate no charger would have a setting higher than that. A 2 amp rate is fine for a motorcycle or lawn tractor battery.
