charts dont seem to match serial to a year

i have seen many charts with years if you have your serial number.

e.g http://www.marineparts.com/partspages/techhelp/TECH15.HTM

i am 99% sure my serai lnumber is 9517820 and the cowling cover says mercury 50 oil injected but it seem one the serial number get to starting with 6****** then after that they begin with a letter???

p.s i am in Australia

Your engine is a 1988, 3cyl. built in Belguim

Do you know where to find a spec sheet on this motor? And or manual?

The Mercury manual number is 90-86135-4 here in the states. Ck your PMs for specs.
