Re: Chased down a jet-flea!

We have a "Jet Ski Patrol" manned by our Maritime Police. They were set up to prevent Jet Skis operating on Sydney Harbour (they are banned from the Harbour) however not a single infringement has been noted in the four years since the ban came into force. So our JSP guys now patrol Botany Bay and the river that feeds it (the Georges River) and they do a great job of keeping the idiots at bay, be they Jet Skiers, Ski boats or Gin Palaces. I for one love riding Jet Skis... off shore on a big reef break... but find they are a pain in the neck just bimbling along. I use my boat for that and have found I'm using the boat more and more and the Jet Ski less and less.<br />The JSP guys will chase someone down for you if you radio through a complaint to their base... a guy driving a Riviera 48 copped a $550 fine just before Christmas for creating excessive wash in a "no wash" zone. Must admit I didn't feel the slightest guilt in radioing that one through and I know plenty of my boating friends have started using the radio more!<br />Best thing about Jet Skis? Watching newbies try to back the little trailers they use down the ramp... jacknife city!

hey....not all PWC owners are jerks...I own a PWC too. (I don't think I'm a jerk :D )<br /><br />I do chase down pwc and BOATS that come by my place in a now wake zone. It's not PWC's....it's irresponsible watercraft owners. Actually, I've chased down more boats that PWC's in my area!

 Hey Realgun you can tell your kids it's Australian for "no wake zone". Over here a "no wake zone" is a cold windless winter's morning when my kids don't want to go sailing!

In Scotland we have similar problems with jet-scum when fishing off a jetty with a float 30 yards from shore they come in close to show off straight over your lines ,also if i am in my boat trolling and displaying my trolling shape (bright orange ball raised above boat to warn other boats of lines out the back of boats)these muppets still insist on jumping my wake(at 5mph it must be at least one foot high)

Local lake, small slot to land your boat between the rocks and the ramp. Had a guy with his pole in a pole holder right in the middle of the slot pointing at the ramp wanting me to land on it. As he picked up his pole and started to franicly reel in his line. I told him, "If you think I'm going to land my boat on the concrete your f-ing nuts!" Stupid people are every where. Had a guy parked side ways half across the ramp on a cold day, same lake. Sitting in the truck watching thier poles. He backed up a little. Backed the boat down onto the ramp. Pucked the transom tie downs off and was getting ready to back into the water. His buddy knew I was pissed about how close to the ramp he was. Said there was plenty of room. I said loud enough for the fool to hear, "Ya as long as he doesn't mind swapping a little paint!" He got in his truck and backed up a little more.

Last weekend, I was at the marina where we launch. There were 3 drunks on lake lice doing donuts right between the two docks. <br /><br />Boats were bouncing all over the place. Im just glad mine wasn't there, or I would probably be in jail still.
