I was pricing car stereos and they were going for around the same price without speakers and the cover. I think this is a great deal.

Well, I'm now in the same boat (pontoon actually). Overtons sent me shipping labels to sent the unit I bought for $89.000 back for refund. The unit sound kept cutting out when you went over 60% volume. and they dont have any more to exchange it with.

I think I will go with a car radio, and buy a splash guard for it. I read on a review of a Dual marine stereo that it stopped working when it got splashed. So a splash guard is a must ( along with marine speakers)

if it were me, i would spring for a decent brand lower end head unit and buy used or discounted polk db series car speakers off ebay (they're marine rated). the polk 6 1/2 round I think db 650 and 651 speakers will sound sooo much better than discount speakers and there are so many of them around thay can be had for not a fortune. They'll also handle it if you want to buy a good sized amp later... imho

if the sound kept cutting out at high volume, it sounds like your wiring is not heavy enough to support the system. That or your ground could be bad

I already checked the wiring, and also got anoter poster who said he is having the same issue with his Pyle radio, I think its an issue with the input voltage. I will be getting a different venor's radio. I guess its a hit an miss with inexpensive radios.
