Re: Cheap oil causing poor performance

I've been using Wally World outboard motor oil for over 25 years, and the inside of my 1990 SeaDoo is as clean as possible. My 1985 Yamaha 115 hp 2 stroke has never had an oil problem running their oil.

Unfortunately, modern clean gasolines have changed. The chances are 90/10 gasoline has aged, and there's been a chemical breakdown. An acid produced attacks anything rubber. Old 2 stroke outboards were just not designed to run on such junk fuels.

When in doubt, clean'em out.

IMHO this definetly NOT an oil related problem. Sounds like some old gum, or rust, or dirt came loose from somewhere ... I had an idling issue with a Force 15 hp late last summer, emptied the tank and refilled with fresh gas/oil mix + carb cleaner + stabil and after running fast idle for approx 5 minutes in a barrel the problem disapeared ... food for thought.

Is it possible that your local gas stations just switched to s different blend of gas, such as the winter blend? Or maybe both gas stations buy gas from the same company, even if they have different brand names. So maybe it is a batch of bad gas, and you got the same gas at both stations.
