Re: Cheaper to shoot my AK than my 22LR

Years ago Wallyworld sold a "3 lb bucket of bullets". .22lr I bought about 15 of them. They were cheap, like $5.00 each. Remington ammo. I still have about 8 buckets.
Last year I picked up an H&R Handi Rifle chambered in .500 S&W. Talk about expensive ammo!! A 20 round box of Winchester is $69.00. I found Selwayarmory.com and have been getting it there for $33.99 for a box of 20. The last time I had it at the range I cracked the stock. The recoil from 400 grain rounds was too much for that walnut. Called H&R and had a new laminated stock and matching forearm in 3 days. Awesome customer service!!
I don't own any ARs or AKs. Really don't want any. I do have 3 1911's and a Walther and my Kel Tec's.
I just did some quick math and came up with I spent more money on ammo last year then I did on groceries....

I shoot my modified Mosin Nagant (shortened, muzzle break, pro mag stock) for .18-.20/ round. 7.62x54R.

The bad part is that I just purchased a 1927 M1 Thompson (Tommy Gun). That shoots .45ACP.....not going to be nearly as cheap....

That surplus 7.62x54R is fun stuff at .20 cents a round but someday that soviet block ammo is going to dry up. And if the feds have their way it will be illegal to export.

All the more reason to load up now and not be caught with an empty magazine!!
