I have tried doing some searches online but the price range seems so broad. Have any of you internet sleuthes out there found the cheapest place to buy a Volvo starter for a 2003 4.3GL?
Thanks in advance,
Jesse

Sometimes you get what you pay for,

Have you looked into rebuilding the OEM starter?

looks about the standard price: ~150. The cheapest I found was 109 but had a 70 core fee that you would have to ship back, and you'd have to pay for shipping on that.

A local auto-electric rebuilder will probably rebuild yours for about a 100 bucks and it will be as good as buying a reman online.

Unfortunately the starter coming off is an aftermarket with grinding/alignment issues. I want to do it once and right.

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer

Aftermarket isn't OEM.

Just because a starter is OEM, does not mean that it will fit perfect and not have any odd grinding noises. There's a chance you could still need to shim it, even if it's OEM. Have you tired shimming the starter you have now? You can get a set of starter shims from an auto parts store for $5.

I would also replace the starter bolts if you have alignment issues, they are special knurled bolts.
