Check engine light on during idle

Went boating for the weekend. Boat ran great all weekend but on the last day the check engine light started coming on during idle. Once I got under way it would stop beeping. I have a 2005 sea ray 220 select with the 5.7 MPI. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

You have posted in the wrong forum. Hopefully a mod will see it and move it to the correct engine forum if you let us know what you have. Merc?? Volvo??

Without a code reader you never know what caused the beeping. My first choice is the IAC. But throwing parts at the boat is not very cost effective. You gotta know what the error code is.

Just re re-read your original post. A Sea Ray....of course it's a Mercruiser. What a Dummy :facepalm:

Did you look at the Oil Pressure and/or the Water Temperature Gauges at the time?
Was the engine well warmed up or did it happen right after a cold start?
