The better business bureau (BBB) rating will show you if a company is on the up and up and will try to resolve issues. Make sure you it check out at BBB.com. Hint- if you ever heard of Michiganmotorz.com for boat engines- see the bbb site first!!! beware!

Did you read the report? One person filed a complaint against them for "Advertising Issues". This hardly necessitates being wary. While the BBB is valuable, keep in mind that anyone can file a report for any reason. You've got to weigh all this when you look (and before you start calling people out IMHO)...

I've never read a bad thing about Michiganmotorz on this board. That holds more water for me than some random person's "Advertiing Issue"...

I picked up a new 5.7L longblock last thursday from them (Michigan Motorz) and was quite happy with them. They were willing to stay late and meet me in the evening to arrange pickup.

The new engine has 06 on the castings and by all appearances in genuinely brand new.

They have a great rating on EBay... I trust what those people have to say. Bad vendors have a short life there.

The BBB is only interested in the companies willingness to work out disputes.

One misunderstanding with one customer out of all the customers who could have left feedback with the BBB...

Would you not purchase something from an eBay vendor who had 1 negative feeback and 98,000 positives?

One complaint doesn't "kind of tell ya" anything.

Take a look at Wal*Mart. Seems they've all been resolved, but if you look closer you see that in half the cases, the customer was not happy with the resolution. In that case according to the BBB, Wal*Mart would have a better rating than Michigan just because they "cared" enough to respond even though their "caring response" did nothing for the customer.

It all tells me, buyer beware of the BBB. I have a little troube trusting the opinion of a group that accepts money from the people they're giving their opinion on.

I've never purchased anything from Michigan, but I know enough about sales to know that one customer (good or bad) does not define a business.
