this has been on here before and it has been proven to be a hoax. Nice idea, but not smart to try.

I was wondering how many times it took to get it right..lol. I didn't know it was a hoax. First time I've seen this one. Funny.

The obviousness of the hoax is evident in a number of things. First is the two buckets of water on a slide of that length - they really wouldn't do much. Next is the extreme accuracy in hitting a very small target, when you couldn't control velocity on the slide consistently, no matter what you did. The end result would a great deal of variation in the distance the person would fly through the air, thus making a landing in the small pool highly unlikely. Most of all, however, is that there is no way that small a volume of water would cushion a landing like that. The person would end up slamming into the floor of the pool and the deck under it, resulting in significant injury.

isnopes verdict: FAKE!

I liked the " girls on a slip and slide " that came up later ...much better. Though they might be a hoax too.

It kind of reminds me of the Jackass Movie. That ramp they had going into the lake was awesome. Those guys really do some crazy stuff. I would like to try that rocket trick, it looked pretty fun. . That would have to be a hoax, or there was a lot of trial and error. You would have to compensate the exact weight of the person with the test dummy and account for wind direction and all. Those guys would have to be geniuses if that was real. I wouldn't try it.

Hoax, but very well done graphically. It's a conservation of momentum problem that gives it away. At the speed he is traveling horizontally, you would expect to see his impact on the water create a wave traveling in the same direction. What you see is the water splashing straight up. The walls of the pool would limit this effect, but you should still see it.

Yup, and what would really happen is that the entire pool would be pushed forward at least a little bit.

Any time you get crazy unbelievable stuff in your email, especially when its forwarded from friends and family (my number one culprits it seems), I always suggest you run it by Snopes.com.

That site is well known for debunking myths and urban legends. See this: http://www.snopes.com/photos/advertisements/megawoosh.asp

Snopes is the biggest killjoy on the planet.

Try searching YouTube for the slip&slide-like waterslide ocassionally set up on "Sand King" on Lake Powell. Various boaters on their houseboats would have a waterslide that had to be at least 100-150' long and starting from an elevation about 90' above the lake. I only saw it from the airplane, never from the water. The locals said they'd been doing it for years. I think it would take a heck of a pump to generate that kind of head pressure.

The sand dune is at or very near it's angle of repose so I figure that would be about 45* slope to the water.

I thought the girls were a hoax as well so I had to watch to make sure. I could not find anything on Snopes about them but I believe they are real.:D
