I use to have a great uncle that would go to the bank every week and get $200 worth of pennies and go through them looking for special pennies.i dont know what ever happened to his collection.

I'm amazed that you still have pennies in the USA. I brought a whole pile of them back with me from my last trip there...guess I'd better check them!<br /><br />In NZ we phased out 1 and 2 cent coins a long time ago. This year we are phasing out the 5 cent coin, so our smallest denomination will be 10 cents... I reckon most transactions here are paid by card now instead of cash anyway.

One of the weekend morning shows had a feature on this last Sunday. It purportedly showed the actual coins that he put into circulation. I'm not holding my breath that any will escape to Indiana.

And the point of this was? Your govt. didnt want yall putting in your 2 cents worth?

I honestly have these pennys. when i was i little boy, my uncle had a collection that he put together for me,before his passing,sent them to me. have every year penny to date, several 1909's<br />Really didnt think they were worth anything, could this be true? 1000.00 for one penny!

LOL i was reading somewere there other day and they said save all your pennys because the value of the metal is way more than a 1 cent.and if china keeps buying up all this metal the recycle value will be much greater.may be a bunch of bs but sorta makes sence.

Want to find any old coins ,go to the scrap yards and pull the back seats out of the old cars you will find some forsure,I scrapped a car for a customer and found a 1936 dot penny {Canadian} it is worth a bundle as it very very rare.The dot is what makes it so rare.Only six left in the world the rest lost in the back of an old Packard or Lasalle maybe.Check your Lasalle Ken
