Have you ever really looked at your phone bill? I think this was posted before, but here's a rundown on my land line bill.

Basic flat rate service $11.51 that's my basic bill, HOWEVER HERE WE GO
Federal Access charge 5.53
9-1-1 Emerg System
Billing for Floyd County .68
Fed Universal Service Fee .56 Isn't that included in Fed Access System?
IN Universal Service
surcharge .06
Telecommunications
Relay Service .03

Federal tax at 3% .53

State Tax at 6% $1.59

Total $19.96 of which $8.45 is some sort of tax or "service" charge.

That's about 42% tax on your phone bill multiplied by x phone's in the U.S.

Best now a days is to buy in packages phone/cable/internet save about 20$.But I hear what your saying on tax..

You are wrong.These "service surcharges"are not taxes.Taxes are something that are always lowered under certain political administrations.After the taxes are lowered,the authorities have to make ends meet somehow.They do this by charging you "surcharges" instead of taxes.Now you pay more in surcharges than you ever paid in taxes.
This way politicians take you for a ride while they pick your pockets.

Dude, don't even try to turn any thread political. I see your first reply was edited by a mod for political bashing. I've been here much longer than you and it's been tried. Most of the threads eventually turned into bashing of some kind and it made work for the mods. They don't want to have to babysit threads and read all of our political crap so they aren't allowing political threads or replies. Any political snippet you add will be deleted and if you make a habit of it you will be suspended from the site.

Don't try to push these guys buttons. Just keep the thread on topic, please.

Broad band phone is a cheaper alternative especially when considering long distance calls. Also Magicjack.
