1985 Starcraft Islander Mercruiser 120. I bought this boat recently and took it out yesterday for the first time. The seller of the boat has been up front and honest with me and was surprised what happened. He offered me his email address, home phone number and cell phone number when I bought the boat. I say this because I do not think he sold me this boat with a known problem.
I am in arizona and I took the boat out at a high elevation 7000 feet. So it was running poorly and would not get up on plane. I figured it was not tuned for that elevation. So we just trolled around and caught a few fish. On the way back to the dock the boat sputtered and coughed and shut off. I tried to start it a couple of times and it would couch and not start. My friend said "there is oil in the water." I checked the dip stick and it looked like a chocolate milk shake. The day was down hill from there.
Any recommendations will be appreciated. I talked to the previous owner and he was completely surprised. He is the second owner and has maintained the boat for the past 6 years. He said he would make it right.....not sure to what extent.
