I have experienced faulty overheat alarms on my BF45A Honda engine.I have run the engine under power for hours without a problem. I want to be sure the motor is not running too hot.Someone mentioned a digital thermometer. How effective is that. Where is the best place on the motor to probe.?

Your advice will be appreciated.
Thanks
Bucky

Re: Checking for overheating engine.

I think you mean infrared thermometer and they are very accurate. Aim it at various points on the engine but the engine block and head at the highest points will be the warmest.
