on another note is there some kind of paint used to seal inside the live well?

thank you for your time!!

Re: cheep paint

I've had real good luck with Rustoleum's garage floor epoxy.
Cabelas also sells something called Tuff Coat, which has rubber bits in it.

The Rustoleum is a two part, I use the one thats marked Industrial since it's a 50/50 mix and it makes a full 2 gallons when it's mixed. They also have a 4 to 1 mix 'Garage floor paint' that makes only one gallon when you add the included quart of hardener.

Cabelas' Tuff Coat is a urethane base coating.
I prefer the epoxy but as with any paint, surface prep is important.

I've been using the Rustoleum as a deck paint on boats for years. It lasts well and adheres good. I get some wear after a good year of use, but only on high traffic areas, but mostly it's just scratches or scuff marks, I recoat the deck every year or every other year. I use gray so it don't reflect as much light as white does, making it easier to spend time in the sun and heat during the summer.
It also stays clean looking longer.

Here's a link to their website:

The epoxy floor paint is not high gloss, but it does have a sheen to it. What sheen it has when first put down will most likely go away with wear and use. I like the epoxy paint for it's durability. Compared to regular paint, it's about impossible to remove and I've yet to have any problems with it lifting. Its also pretty strong, I had left a brush which I used in the corners on my deck laying on the lid from the empty can, the next day, the brush and can lid were permanently attached. I had to use a chisel to remover the brush and at that only part of it came off.

Walnut hulls do a great job as anti-skid additive if you (or your passengers)have dainty feet and go barefoot in the boat... They're cheap and available in different sizes as blasting media...

and second on epoxy paint (by anyone) for durability and adhesion....

I never bothered with the color chips. I used some anti skid beads that I got from a local MAB store. I didn't add much at all, just enough to make not so slick.

I didn't use any primer and haven't ever had any problems. Just make real sure that surface is clean and oil free.

Sounds Great I Did Not Want To Prime So Thats Good News. What Do You Think About Using Some Bondo To Smooth Out Some Of The Repairs I Have Done? Will This Cause Problems? Will That Paint Stick To That Also?

Thank You For All The Advice This Forum Is Great!:d

I don't see bondo causing any problems so long as it's well adhered. Bondo is the same polyester material as is glass resin.
Epoxy pretty much sticks to everything. Painting with epoxy is just like making a repair with epoxy, only it has color pigment in it. The way it was explained to me was that it's not really 'paint' but just colored epoxy, just thinner.
The key to any coating, paint or adhesive is to make sure the surface is perfectly clean.

When it comes to primer and epoxy paint, I was told that it only creates the need for another layer of adhesion. If the surface is spot clean and grease free, the epoxy paint will be permanent.

You could do a small test area just to see how well it bonds. Mix up a table spoon of both parts and test in a small area that you have cleaned to be sure you will have good adhesion.
