I doubt the drive would hold up to any of those 350hp+ motors.

Not only that, hulls have limits. Do you know if that hull is going to be stable at the speeds that kind of power can push it? My bet is it turns into a chine walking death trap somewhere between 55 and 60 MPH. If it were mine I would drop a 4.3L MPI in it and enjoy the 50 extra horsepower, better fuel economy, and driveablity that comes with it. Don't get me wrong I think it's a really cool idea, but I wouldn't attempt it.

The hull is not built for extremely high speeds, I think the funs stops at 45 knots (52 MPH), but it's not the plan to build a speed monster. If I was going for speed only, I think I would find a Sea Ray Pachanga 22 from late 1980's early 90's

No, I would like to have this boat with a V8 for the sound and smoothness, and off course a little more power. I've had this boat for many years and it means a lot to me. So I'm not gonna trade it, for a faster boat with a V8.

It annoys me that the common SBC V8 is so damn heavy. And now that GM has finally made a nice aluminium V8, it seemed like it was the answer to my problems.

But as someone has mentioned earlier, the answer might be to replace as much cast iron with aluminium on an SBC and the weight difference is not that big anymore. At least the marinizing is not an issue then.

I've got a friend with an inboard Mastercraft with a factory Corvette engine in it. I think it's around a '94 model. I'm not sure when the LS1 came out. Would that be an LS1 in that year range? Anyway, something to look into. Maybe Mastercraft has already done what you're wanting to do.

Those corvettes used LT1 motor packages. It is still just a SBC.
