Been looking for something to put on my keys that will help me find them if they are lost. Anyone tried "Tile" ....or is there something better out there?

there are literally hundreds if not thousands of NFC tags that work with todays smart phones. many dirt cheap.

We use tags on our equipment in our labs, especially our cables that run around $10K each. Even with the reader that attaches to the phone, you have to almost be right on it to find the darn thing.

I think we are talking about two different things.
What I am looking for is a bluetooth battery powered device that communicates with a cell phone to locate your keys or works in reverse to locate your phone. NFC tags are not powered, and use radio waves to activate the device. "near field communication". and as Bruce said, you have to be right on top of them to get them to work. I have been reading up on the "Tile" device, and people have located lost keys even under water. The Tile device has a non replaceable battery, and I would like to find a device that has a replaceable battery.

I was thinking about getting one of those tile devices. However, the reviews on them are less than stellar.

Those tile things are not that small, either. If you had a large-ish set of keys already, the tile would definitely make them noticeably bulkier. I can't comment at all on the functionality. If I were going to use those tiles, I'd JB weld one to the TV remote!
