Choke broke but what needs to be replaced?

Recently had the carbs overhauled on my 92 70 Hp Evinrude by a local boat shop. When they were basically finished and tuning the motor (link & sync I guess) the choke stopped working and they were unable to finish as they couldn't start the motor without a properly working choke. They told me I needed a new "Fuel Enrichment System". Note the shop I took the motor to works on a lot of Yamaha motors so they might have possibly given me Yamaha terminology as I can't figure out what part this is. My guess they meant I need a new Solenoid but wanted to see if someone could explain how the choke functions on this motor so I could properly troubleshoot. If I were to be starting the motor cold, I would simply push the key in to choke it. Any thoughts?

Is it a mechanical or electrical choke? if its mechanical basically somewhere between the plunger the cable and the choke lever something broke. if its electrical it probably is jsut a solenoid or a relay

A '92 70 uses a primer system, not a choke. Which primer system depends on whether it's an early or late model. With that, I exhausted everything I know about it. Maybe someone will be by that knows about primers.

It's a electric choke I'm assuming as you just press the key in at the control box to choke the motor. A new solenoid is fairly cheap so I will replace that and see if that fixes the problem. It is the original part making it 15 years old.

One other guess could be the power pack but I would have to check the wiring diagram to see if it plays with the choke. I do have a old power pack I could use to test with.

power pack has nothing to do with the primer or choke. fuel emrichment tell me you need a new primer. you need the model number on motor to determine which primer you need. and if they were real mechs, they would spray some premix in the carb to get it started.
