choke it to keep motor running

I have 1992 90hp evinrude.When I put the cold start leverdown it stalls out.
If I keep hitting the choke button it stays running.

Sounds like time to rebuild the carbs with carb kits,
see the FAQ files for good directions on how to do it if you aren't up to speed on carb jobs, simple DIY, iBoats sells the carb kits. Choking bypasses the jets in the carbs,

The good news is its not the fuel pump.

Check the gas also

Carb rebuild will only help matters. If fuel is not treated with stabilizer or is an unknown quantity then get rid of it and use fresh.
