Choke linkage question

Ok guys , I tried searching but can't find a related post ; so I'm asking for help . I'm not sure of what position to keep the choke lever - or better yet is each of the three positions used for ?? My OB is a Johnson j50ELCSR (1980). Thanks for the help and sorry 'bout the cheezy cell phone picts:redface: peter

it has 3 positions, off, auto, and manual choke. if you have the slide on the front of the cowl, all the way in, is off, the middle is auto, so that the choke solenoid, activates the choke from the remote control. all the way out is manual choke, incase the solenoid fails. middle, auto, postion is the proper place to keep it.

Thanks for confirming T.D. I expected that , but could not find it confirmed anywhere , not even in the selco manual . peter
