Re: Choke Solenoid Link Retainer

Getting close TD, if I'm seeing this correctly in the oem manual, there's a roundish looking retainer{named in thread title, and can faintly see in attached photo}, sorry that photo was the best I could reproduce. Looks as though it may be as simple as a push-on/friction type retainer...it appears to slide over{?} the linkage & up against the clevis.

Re: Choke Solenoid Link Retainer

Tried to clear up the photo some, hope this gives a better image...it's the roundish shape at #6...can't seem to find anything on it other than name...This motor came without it, the PO said they had to use the manual choke and I believe this is part of why...the linkage slips out of the clevis very easily as the clevis opening is square, the linkage is a rod{circular}

just not sure what I can get by with, as to allowing enough free-play while maintaining retention

Re: Choke Solenoid Link Retainer

It's (@ #6 in your picture) actually two parts, the washer and the retaining ring.

The retaining ring is part # 0307529

The choke shaft pin washer is part # 0312937

Re: Choke Solenoid Link Retainer

Getting the choke solenoid to work properly takes two steps:

First, confirm that the choke plates are perfectly synchronized so that they are 100% fully closed at the same time;

Second, loosen the clamp on the solenoid and move it in small increments until it closes the choke plates fully, 100%, and keeps them closed while cranking the engine for a cold start.

The solenoid punger should be immaculate - no lubricant whatsoever.

Thanks Ezeke, for the #'s and the setting info...may I ask where you found the part #'s? In my original quest I searched 3 different suppliers with no hits.
Thanks go out to you again as well for your assistance...deeply appreciated!

Re: Choke Solenoid Link Retainer

Thanks again Ezeke, the solenoid linkage was just hanging in the breeze when I aquired this motor, the blow apart diagrams don't lend well to my eye's on proper hook-up...will order all of the above parts as I'm sure they wouldn't object to being replaced...I'll update at that time as I'm currently replacing all fuel lines and the 'tee'...currently the carbs are once again on the bench.

Just want to take another minute & say thanks again to you and TD. You guy's, along with some of the others here are a great asset and it's super of you folks to assist as you do so freely...
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!
