Hi, i have a '99 chris craft 210 BR with the 5.7 carburated volvo/penta...when i take the boat out and just ease on the throttle getting the boat up to plane with the nose in the air the boat will usually give a little backfire and spit and sputter and die, then wont start back up...if you hammer the throttle down and get it on plane quickly it will do fine...but when it does do it little "issue" i can let sit for a couple of hours and it will start back up...it seems to me like when the nose is in the air that the fuel is draining out of the bowl and killing it..but i'm not sure...I have replaced the fuel pump relay and checked the power valve in the carb as told to by a local mechanic but the issues remain..my next move is going to be a fuel pump unless someone else has any ideas on what is going on here...Any info would be greatly appreciated..Thanks Kenny

Have you checked the pick up tube going into your tank? Water/fuel seperator? Fuel filter on the carb? Sounds like a fuel line blockage somewhere. It doesn't happen often, but even the gas line can delaminate within itself and close off the inner lining causing the fuel pump to starve.

I had that problem when I first got my boat 7 years ago. The backcheck valve in the fuel pick up tube was clogged and caused problems as you described. Good Luck and welcome aboard iboats.........SS
