I have a 1977 Chris Craft Lancer 19' and the longitudinal floor supports are showing some dry rot. Has anyone repaired these and what does it entail? Are these structurally significant other than supporting the floor? The fiberglass appears to be in good shape. Any info or references appreciated.

yes they are called stringers, and are a structural part of the boat. pictures would help for more advice. clik the blue 'post reply' type what you want, then scroll down to manage attachment, clik, there you can upload from computer or hosting site, like photobucket.

Re: Chris Craft Lancer 19' restoring

I currently have the floors out of my 1968 19' Lancer...

The wood stringers are for floor support only in the Lancer. The fiberglass Hull/Engine Stringers are hollow (no wood core like many other builders) and do not rely on the floor supports for hull strength.

Hope this helps - Dave Ashley

I have a '69 19' lancer in near perfect condition but it has had a bad squeak under the floor ahead of the ski well. If I could see pictures of whats under there I might be able to figure a way to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hey terry welcome to i boats......:)...as above...most boats are built the same way.....there is lots of pics here on stringer replacement....and we can guide you right thru anything you want to do.

i havent seen a cris craft resto in the past year....mabe td knows of one previous....but if you search the compleated projects forum youll get a really good idea of what you will be looking at once the deck comes up.

the hull extension thread also has detailed picks of a stringer replacement
