Chris Craft Outdrive swap

I just resently purchased a 1994 Chris Craft Concept 217 with out the motor or outdrive it had a omc cobra 5.0L with a volvo sx outdrive my question is what can i replace the engine and outdrive with i was looking into purchasing a 3.0L mercruiser/Alpha 1 gen outdrive will the hole in the boat match

you sure i went down to repair shop today and they told me i would have to buy a converstion plate cause the mercruisers are bowling pin shaped to the volvo egg shape

Ayuh,... You said You were doin' it...

Other Volvos are bigger, the OMC/ Volvos use the same keyhole as Mercruiser...

Sounds like ya need a Different Shop...

This progression (regression) has me more concerned than the cutout. Performance expectations?

yeah i got to thinking of that and im not going through with the 3.0L one not a lot of horse and secon the bracketsfor mounting the engine are off i found that i needed to go with a least a V6

Good plan, and FWIW I was not really being that sarcastic. There are guys in the UK, that want to cruise the canals at no wake speeds and although a kicker would probably get it done, for them a 3.0 might be OK. Different strokes for different folks . . . Rock on dude
