chris craft prop?

I just bought a 93 Chris Craft Concept Cruiser w/a King Cobra 7.4l omc. I currently have a 15x17 prop but we cruise at 20 mph at 3100 rpm and it seems to be sucking fuel like crazy. Was wondering what the stock prop is and if anyone has any other options for me to gain some effeciency.
Thanks, Steve

What RPM are you running at WOT.

Re: chris craft prop?

The fuel sucking might have more to do with the 7.4l than the prop... You could install a fuel flow rate monitor... that would help find any "sweet spot" that engine might have....

Re: chris craft prop?

I am running 4400 rpm at wide open. Got it fully trimmed out and it was right at 38 knots of course i used a gps when i did this. Maybe its not that bad. wondering if a 18 or 19 inch prop would help with cruising. Im not really interested in pulling skiers out of the water do you guys think this would help

Sounds like you are in the ball park at 4400.
