Here is a good one for you.
I asked young Hayden (15yrs) what he wanted for Xmas a while back, and he told me.
Today I casually asked him if he had any idea of what he is getting.
"Haven't you seen my list on the fridge door Dad? i told you what I wanted."
Oooooooops!.......missed that one, so asked him to read it out

Christmas wish list
1. boat license book
2. car license book
3. $100 to spend on the 'I love New York site'
4. Big posters of parts of New York.
5 Years Subscription to either Playboy or Zoo magazine

So I bailed his Mum up when he was outside....yes....she has seen the list....why haven't I?... and yes, she has one issue of Playboy for him as she can't get a years sub here...and no, he is not interested in the articles like you say are in it....and he might as well have it instead of giving your computer a virus.........Jeezzzzzz, I give up.

She can't find the NY posters, (how would i get them?), and neither of us can fathom how you spend $100 on the NY site. She has got him some neat little 'things' he will like, plus a large garden statue he has always liked.....but I'm not allowed to see them till Xmas morning.

He gets the National Geographic which he does read, (and I am not allowed to touch until he has finished), and collects, plus he always goes thru my Time magazine each week, (only after I have read it), and gives me the 1,000 questions....who is Ben Banarnkey...read the article Hayden! So I reckon Playboy should be a good edition to the family archives.

Cheers
Phillip

Maybe Mums right in the way she treats me....I had Haydens age down as 14.

(Pssst!!....I got a copy of every centrefold from the first issue thru......amazing how things have changed)

You can post a link. It is not an obvious iboat competitor and it's Christmas ;)

Re: Christmas Gift List from the Kid

You guys sure put a Q-mark over the New York thing.....so we asked, and no, he has not heard of such a woman....it is the city....but it got Pa and Ma a little worried.

Thank you for the poster site.
I have been thru 12 odd pages and there is so much......when he returns from holidays we will get on to it.

He wants:
the statute of Liberty.
Empire State building.
Chrysler building.
Central Park.
Grand Central Station

he can't remember the last.....he called my attention to it when there was a tv program on it.........I think it is circular.......or it has a circular internal staircase.......is it missing a handrail?? ...there is something about it......it may be a gallery.......it is of major architectural significance in the world....he reckons it is in New York.
Any of you guys familiar with this?

He has advised us he wants to decorate his room with these posters......some B&W, some colour.

Thanks for all your help

Cheers

I live 50 miles and work 15 miles from New York City and would be happy to help find whatever your boy desires. Send me a pm if you wish. Your son has excellent taste in locales!!;)

PS- If he likes the NY Giants football (NFL), I can hook him up big time!:p

Good luck and Merry Christmas to you and the family!

kids are funny sometimes with their "art" choices. my son last year wanted a print of some old time iron workers sitting on a beam well up in the air.

I had it framed and must admit it looks very nice.

Glad the poster link was helpful...as to the staircase, maybe this one{see new link - scroll down the page to the 'Octagon' building/night photo} it's located on Roosevelt Island NY. Gives the illusion of missing pieces of handrail, don't know about any signficance, but it has a lot of cool history behind it {previously used as a prison, insane asylum, gangsters paradise etc.etc.}

Re: Christmas Gift List from the Kid

After a lot of searching we have found it....

The Guggenhiem Museum

http://www.greatbuildings.com/buildings/Guggenheim_Museum.html

Anyone been to it or walked past it?

Some interesting staircases there Kenny.

Angus63....we don't know the game of baseball here, but having said that, is there a 'site' you have in mind he can go to to look?

Cheers

Went to the Guggenheim many years ago on a city tour. To check out some New York sports, try www.mlb.com for baseball - and www.nfl.com for football.

Re: Christmas Gift List from the Kid

OK, so Xmas is 1.5 months back, and we never had the time to get the NY Posters for him for Xmas.
We did get a bit of time to check out Poster Sites and found one in Australia that seemed very reasonable (cheap in fact).
Today was his birthday, and he got;

Statute of Liberty.
Empire State building.
NY City with Twin Towers dominating it.
Chrysler building.
Brooklyn Bridge

I got the coloured ones as opposed to the B&W.

So thanks everyone, and Angus, when he gets them all up, I will ask him what he knows about the Giants and we'll see what happens.

Cheers

Music, Merchant Ships, and NYC adorn your walls. You could pass for a younger version of me! :)
If there's something from NYC you have your heart set on, give me a shout!
Next time I cruise down the East River I'll try to remember to snap a few pics and forward them to you.
All the best...

Thank you Angus.
The ship is 'the greatest ocean liner in the world Angus', and I know everything left-right-and-centre possible about it. I even built a model.
Thank you for the offer about anything from New York.
I would like the photos of different places, like the houses people live in and cars and streets and people. I think it is different to here. We only have one season sort of.
What team and sport do you go for over there?
Got to go Hayden.
