Just curious if anyone "gave" or "received" any cool Christmas presents this year.

I gave my Fiance' tickets to Kenny Chesney and Zack Brown Band (country band for a concert this summer at Target Field where the MN Twins play). It will be an outdoor night concert which should be a really cool experience.

I got a cool craftsman "open-faced" tool box that will allow me to create a nice grab-toolbox for the boat when I take it out. I also received a heavy duty rolling mechanics chair so I can roll around my garage while working on projects now.

And I also recieved the gift of spending time with my friends and family whom all love to come home to Minnesota for Christmas.

I was thinking of buying some myself, so it was a great thing to get them as a christmas present.

Best get, a cordless drill. I don't know why it took me this long to get one. I am so tired of pulling out my 100ft extension cord (only one I have) every time I need to fix something that I can't set 3-4 feet from an outlet.

Best give, 8 picture frame to my wife with 8 pictures of our son in it.

Best part, got to use my cordless drill to hang it up in the hallway :D

Best thing I got was a new sonar for the boat. Best thing I gave was a surprise trip to the clothes store so my wife could pick out a bunch of new outfits (I don't even try to buy her clothes anymore....) 1-2 hours in the store, of me acting like a clothes rack and telling her everything looks great, made her a happy camper.

its always been tradition to allow the kids to open a " pointless" gift on xmas eve.

Same tradition here in our family, though they didn't get to open pointless gifts this year, they got to open gifts that "slipped"...

- I was talking to my wife and asked her "why didn't you get that while you were picking up the ear rings" (silence).. Then my daughter shouted "I'm getting ear rings!!!" (DOH,)

- After picking up my daughter's gift to her brother we snuck it into the house, only for him to overhear the word "backpack". It didn't take him long to figure out it was a hydro pack he's been wanting.

- I had a box full of presents for my wife that the kids and I were going to wrap, just sitting there, waiting to be wrapped. I guess curiosity got the best of my son and he looked inside only to ask "what are all these books for"?

Best give: A diamond pendant for the LOML and big Tonka trucks for two of my great grandbuddies.

Best get: Spent Saturday with most of my descendants. There are no words in English that I know (and I know a lot) to express how much I treasure those times. Pure joy.

Best gift: My autistic grandson got me a sheepskin lap throw to keep me cosy when lounging in my recliner.

I was down at the mailbox when my Amish neighbor from across the lane came over and asked me if I had a USB charger. I asked him what for and he said that he had got his son one of those helicopters and had no idea how to charge the battery.

Since his buggy has a 12v battery for the lights and I knew it has a cigarette lighter outlet I sort of made his day by telling him that he can get a charger that plugs into the lighter socket.

Now his boy will have to wait until the next one of us will being going to town to pick one up. I won’t be tonight with 4 inches of new snow on the ground and still coming down strong. We don’t plow the lane until it stops, no use in plowing it twice since it is a half mile long.

Re: Christmas Presents, give and recieve.

Best buy/give: Number 2 son wanted a particular bass amplifier and no way could we afford a new one, we thought we'd have to give him some $$ toward one. But I started off looking around online to check out prices etc. I found a used one online at guitarcenter.com for a great price and ordered it. It was supposed to be shipped to the local branch store and I'd pick it up there. But one day it showed up on my doorstep (UPS screwed up). Opened the box and the cabinet was smashed on one side. I returned it to the local store, went home and kept looking for the next several days, time was getting short. Found another one for $50 more, and after a lot of financial agonizing, decided to go for it. This one shipped correctly to the store & I went to pick it up. Against my better judgement, it was so well packed and sealed that I didnt' check it at the store. I got it home, unpacked and it was smashed worse than the first one! :mad-new:

I called the store, and talked to the manager to tell them that I was returning yet another one. He said that he had a demo amp in the store that he might be able to let me have for "very near" what I paid for the used one. So I went to the store, prepared to bargain my butt off to get it at that price. Well, to my very happy surprise, when I walked in the door, he came up to me and said, "Guess what. I have a brand new one in my warehouse here that I'm going to give you for the price you paid for the used one!".:D I thought I had mis-heard him, but that's what he did for me for all the inconvenience. So my son ended up with a brand new amp with a 5 year warranty for the price of a used one. Now that's customer service!

Best gift received: From the same son, who is living at home and broke, barely paying off his school loans....A Christmas card coupon for "labor" to clean the bathroom! Best gift ever!

Oooh yeah those are tons of fun, and it seems virtually indestructible as I am a terrible Helo Pilot but my aircraft still flies.

Yeah, those sound like great fun! We had some RC boats once, but I'd like to try flying around the Xmas tree!

Re: Christmas Presents, give and recieve.

I will have to admit this year its having a very giving wife. My old truck died a few weeks ago and I have been driving the S 10`s for many years for economy reasons and while out looking for a newer S 10 my wife talked me into test driving a full sized 4 wh drive. and her comment later was the look on my face while driving it. She insisted that I get it. I had forgotten how good it feels to have a V 8 under the hood.

i thought if they lasted a half hour....it was $25 well spent. but those things are as tough as nails, and after 20 or 30 crashes you can get good at it! lol

Re: Christmas Presents, give and recieve.

Mostly gave this year.

Ex-wife got a much needed care package of personal care products, OTC medicines, and food.
(she is pretty much living off the mercy of others now, as she lost everything to her addictions)

Needy impaired person, located by the church, got him pillows, clothes, electric razor, and books on cd.

Parents got a week trip to a different resort in Canada.
They've been going for decades, but the old camper, 50 miles up the logging road, is getting
pretty rough on 78 year old dad.
They can stay in a cabin now, 7 miles off the highway.
It won't be long till dad won't go any more, but mom will likely want to go till the day she dies, so
I figure if I'm going to be taking them, I'm picking the place.
Real nice place, 60,000 acre lake, and cheap compared to many I visited last summer.
