Hi all,I have a 59 elgin with a patched up mahogany keel. I would like to beef it up with some type of after market keel that will form to old keel, then install a chrome type shield over all.I've searched, but can't find chrome type keel shield.Any opinions or help is appreciated.

Sounds like that would have to be custom made, would look real sharp.Never those plastic ones, they look tacky!

Welcome to I-boats.. I'm not familiar with an elgin, but if it is like some of the old wood runabouts (chris, hacker, etc), those boats had what I call a plumb bow with a chrome guard on it. I think what I would do is mock up a pattern of the bow out of some soft wood and have a metal fabrication shop bent a strip of stainless steel to fit it.....
