Re: chrysler 105 spark plugs

Clymer manual says all three cylinder is champion L20V gapless plugs. Mercury site says UL18V. Either would work.

dont be surprized to get three or four years on these plugs with no fouling. do alot of idling and starts to miss just open up for a few minutes and clear right up. hate to think how may hours on this motor boat combo. motor is on 1971 chrysler 17 foot boat. if they still made boats like it would buy new one. heavy but lots of room. good luck with yours.

Re: chrysler 105 spark plugs

What plugs are in there now. L82C require gapping. L20V is a surface gap plug and the L82C plug is a regular gap plug. Mercurys web site calls out an L20V for all 1975 90 HP motors. I dont know who you are going to believe. I see a bunch of after market sites selling the wrong impellers and carb kits for motors they dont work in. My biggest concern for your motor is that a regular gap plug might stick farther in the cylinder where the piston could hit it or it might be too hot being that close to the piston during ignition. Frank knows his ignition systems maybe he can shed some light on this. I believe different ignitions called for different plugs say magna ,magna ll, pretolite, etc.
