Re: chrysler 140hp help australia

so works out iv blew up the gearbox pulled it off today, i can put it in gear and turn main shaft that comes from powerhead and it dosent spin the prop spline, so something inside gearbox went wrong. tried to pull gearbox apart but i broke some bolts tying to pull the housing that gose around the prop splin, theirs 4bolts u take off their long and around 20cm long and then from what the manual says your supposed to screw in 2 smaller bolts in and pull the housing off, while doing this i was heating with 2 blow torches and trying to tighten these bolts so that it would pull the housing, tried 3 different things and last thing i tried just snapped the threads inside the holes where bolts live. was just trying to pull apart to see what actually went wrong. going to get another gearbox tomorrow and then gona try micklovins 23pitch prop from chrysler.

AHA! You are confusing pulling the "spool" and prop shaft bearing carrier with the reverse gear bearing carrier. They didn't tell you that there are two semi-circular clips inside the gearcase above the reverse gear bearing carrier. This is what holds ALL the guts inside. You tap down on the bearing carrier to loosen the clips and then with a long screwdriver or such remove the clips. THEN you use a couple of long bolts to pull the bearing carrier. Chances are relatively good that when you remove the bearing carrier, no damage will have been done to it and the broken bolts will come right out.

I could have told you not to muck around with the gear box LOL why did you think the one at the back of my place is just sitting there, in the weather, wasn't going to fix it I just had a new pump housing and impeller I needed of it before I dumped it. Your a braver man than me pulling that **** apart. Buy an old motor my Aussie brother for nothing and get the gear box of it, it needs to be a 4 cyl. one piece or two?

If Frank A was any sort of a good bloke he would come to Australia and show us how to repair them ay LOLOL. Bugger Alaska Frank A, tell that woman where YOU are going LOL, here I am saying that and my missus makes me buy a car .

lol micklovin, thats what you get when you tell the boss what your going to do, when your balls belong to her. lmao. franka my mechanic has never pulled a chrysler box apart, he's made them short sharfts and fitted them, he mostly dose engin work, and mercuary and other newer brands works on them, no1 likes to play with old **** and if they do they like to charge a pritty penny, i read it in the manual dosent say to take out 2 sir clips, maybe you should re-write the chrysler hand book. and give me a copy.
mechanic told me to go find one in the chrysler pile at the back of his yard, found lots of 2peice box's but no 1 peice box's. so he's gona source me another 1 peice gearbox.
micklovin was down your way this afternoon, brought some elcheapo trail bike just to take to a mates farm when we go shooting. had 1 bar of battery on fone, didnt want to just drop by uninvited, so i didnt bother. next time. im down your way ill call ya and pop in.
