PLEASE HELP. I have a Chrysler 20 HP from around 1983 with very low hours and sat in a shed all this time. I changed the points and condensors and plugs. I set the points to .020 and plugs I believe to .030 or .050 (A professional gave the the settings). Anyway, even with started spray, it pops and will not start. After many pulls, it stops popping. Id has been driving me crazy. It is getting fuel and spark. PLEASE HELP. Thanks, Michael.

Sounds like it may be a timing problem, md. Check the flywheel for a sheared key.

Don't use starting fluid as this will lean the mixture and reduce lubrication. Remember that this motor is pre-mix and you will have to add 2% TCW3 oil to the gasoline.

If you solve the timing problem which could be the trouble here, you should also check the fuel pump diaphragm that could be damaged. This is done by disassembling the fuel pump.

You might want to get an original workshop manual for your motor at hurrikain.com...
