Hi Louis<br /> I could not identify you motor as a 1970. How ever I have read your other posts. We know it is at least a 1973 model or newer. I have sent you two different schematics on eletric systems. One is for the mag. system which you state your engine has. This system has no batt. charging function. The other is for an alternator system this system will provide ignit. as well as batt. charging. A mag. system with elect. start is (or was) fairly common. It my not have been factory installed on your model. It sounds as if a previous owner my have installed it. This is really not a bad why to go, so long as your starter rope works. If your batt. goes flat, just pull the rope. Well I hopes this helps a little. Keep us informed.
