Been sitting for a few years but ran when it was parked.
I bought it and gave it to my dad.

Figuring its an 84 model is it worth much with good compression and running good?

Were these engines any good back in them days?

Good as a Johnny or Merc?

What say you?

It's hard to say offhand what it's worth. You see them for all prices on e bay. Depends on the engine and buyer.

Now, I am a Chrysler/force lover. But from a strictly engineering standpoint I would have to say they are not as good as Johnson/Evinrude, Merc. Reason:Example: If you look at the lower unit of a Johnson, the prop shaft has two seals each facing opposite the other. One seals out the water and one seals in the oil. The Chrysler has only one seal doing both jobs. It works fine, But the redundancy of the extra seal From an engineering standpiont is better. Of course, You pay for it. The Johnson costs more than the Chrysler. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.
