i just aquired a sylvan aluminum 17' open bow w/ chrylser 90 outboard....has been sitting since 2002 and is a mess....got the motor off and on a stand and checked out...wondering if maybe better to part it out or fix it...will need fuel pump rebuilt, carbs rebuilt/replaced,distributor drive belt, plug wires, starter rebuilt, plugs, thermostat and water pump kit....powerhead is free as well as lower end and seem in good shape...also control and cables are all good....it is a complete motor w/ no missing parts that i can see....any input would be nice as well as any input on its worth as a parts motor....prop and skeg are in good condition as well.the model is 856HOH and serial is 1242....manual tilt/trim...thanks

Re: chrysler 90 year

Somebody probably replaced the cowl.
Do a compression/spark test. That will tell if it's worth messing with.

Re: chrysler 90 year

With good compression and spark it might be worth the effort to see if it runs.
A running motor is worth more. That is unless you sell for parts.
Sometimes the parts can get more$$$
