I found a 78 glastron in very good shape. ready for the water, it has a 60 HP chrysler on it, I dont know what year the motor is, and didnt pay to much attention to the motor, it looks like a early to mid 80's engine, "chrysler" I asked him if it was a 2 stroke, he didnt even know... yea kinda scary, he said he never once mixed oil in the fuel, all though he was 20 years old and never owned a boat before, im pretty sure those years where all two strokes for chrysler, or am I wrong? could it be a four stroke? ill do my best to get the Model #'s tomorrow, but didnt really think about it when i was there... any ideas?

I have never heard of a 4 stroke chrysler outboard. Don't buy it. Knowing its age and how clueless the owner is, I'll even bet you that the hull is not ready for the water and is full of rot.

well he bought the boat thinkin he can use it for wakeboarding, and he realized its not the boat for it, and does not have enough power, so yea thats why he is selling it, the hull looks very good, solid, im mainly worried about the motor if he ran it without oil n whatnot

run the motor first to see if it cranks, then do compression test if it runs, the older chrysler's were good motors if they were serviced as you would any motor. If its locked up, pass on it unless he just gives it to you, get back to us with the model #, force bought chrysler in 1982-1983 with the bail out of the chrysler co.[one of the stipulations of the government loan] and rebadged some chrysler's as chrysler by force,so if it says chrysler it's at the latest 1983. keep us posted

Model # is 608HA Serial # 2006... which is a 1974-75 60HP, he says it runs, he said for me to come out and hear it run not a problem, he still doesnt even know what a 2 stroke is, is it oil injected that year? because he did not do any mixture of oil... that is my only concern, he ran it at the lake for a few hours, i couldnt emagine it running for that long with no mixture of oil... ill update ya all after i check it out, im gona bring the Ear muffs and hear it run, I doubt he even has the muffs... hes a very clueless guy, which works for me, as long as the engine is not damaged from no oil...

That was the best engine Chrysler designed. It put out an honest 60 ponies at the prop. Only problem: If it says Magna-Power II, you are buying a known trouble prone ignition. However, recently, CDI began offering ignition modules for it. This engine is in a class by itself, and no other Chrysler parts will interchange with it EXCEPT for its sister engines, 55 and 65.

It uses the standard 50-1 gas to oil mix and judging by how clueless you say the owner seems, you may be buying a pig in a poke. Pay what you want for the boat--Glastrons are classy hulls--but only allow 100-200 for the engine.

he wants 1200 for it, and its pretty damn clean and solid,.. I have a 67 Starcraft Starchief that I am trying to sale before I buy that one, im just sick of having a cuddy... mine needs cosmetic work. floats and runs great, and has a 1975 Evinrude 50HP on it and runs great, never had a single problem with it, im just sick of the Cabin.. take up to much room,
