Most common parts are available, one way or another. There are some long-time Chrysler/Force dealers out there who claim to have every part made, but I'd question that.

Are they good motors? Well...they're OK, or they were when they were new. Now, they're all getting older and have the problems of older outboards.

On the other hand, a Chrysler of a given horsepower is usually a lot cheaper to buy than a Johnson or Evinrude.

Lots of them still running out there, and most commonly-needed parts are easy to find.

Personally...I wouldn't buy one, but that's just me.

I have always felt that the engine covers were nicely styled, so that should be worth something :) . Just something about the shape and color combo.

I wonder why they were never called 'Mopars'?

I agree.

If you are a novice, I would NOT start with that package.

I bought a new, I think 80 hp and a buddy bought a 100 hp. Well they spent more time in the shop than we did working. Those were bad days.

My dads first boat back in the 1970's was a 1969 Larson Bowrider with an 85 Chrysler, motor was a nightmare, had the powerhead rebuilt & it blew up 50 hours later ..
