HI, got this mistery motor again, chrysler 55 hp with magnatron ignition with points and no condenser. I think this was changed at one time. could someone tell me how set the point gap. I have a clymer manual but its way to vage for this application. also could someone tell me what it is that I have, I may need to change this cd box out, but have no clue on the right part numbers. these are expensive and would like to get the right one. thanks.

Re: chrysler point gap?

Point gap is pretty much .020" on most outboards. Adjust in the standard way - rotate crankshaft until points rubbing block is at the highest point on the cam lobe, and adjust points for a .020" gap. repeat for other set of points.

Your points are used to signal the CD box therefore no condenser is needed. All points on all 2 cylinder engines are set at .020 open at the high point on the cam. The cam has an arrow etched on one side, showing direction of rotation. This arrow goes up when the cam is installed on the crank. The high point is centered on the key.
