I just bought a 12' aluminum with a Cruise "N" Carry 6600 and a Chrysler Sea King 15 hp model vwb 52118. I believe it's a 1981. I bought a Clymer manual for it to tune it because after cleaning the carb and starting it in the garbage can it seemed to run fine. I got it to the lake put it in the water with the wife, my one year old, and my five year old and started to pull, and pull, as the wife was cracking up. When I got it running and put it in gear after dropping them at the beach, and I throttled up it would reach a point I could not get past, maybe 2000-2500 rpm (I'm guessing) If I twisted it past that it would bog down to where I had to throttle back to the point where it would run OK. I looked in the book and started to adjust the linkage and it states to line up the throttle cam on the starboard side of the carburetor follower roller by backing off the idle stop screw. My question is that there are more than 1 line on the throttle cam. I adjusted the it to the center line where common sense tells me the cam is at the narrowest position. Is this correct? I also think I need to replace the fuel pump diaphram because I have air in the line past the pump. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
