chrystler 55hp slipping

the motor lost power and started slipping when i would throttle it up. Also, I have to push the throttle almost all the way before it will accelerate.

Does it sound like it's running on one cylinder? If so, I would check out the puddle drain valve. It's probably plugged up.

It's behind the towershaft. 2 countersunk screws and 2 bolts hold it in place. Not too hard to clean. When it's off, you'll see 2 screens and 2 little reed valves. Dip it in solvent and blow dry. Be VERY careful of the gaskets though. Hard to find them these days.

Define slipping. Are you saying that when this slip occurs the RPMs go high or your motor rpms go down?

Your prop may be spun. Take a permanant marker and draw a small line on the prop and on the prop nut. When motor slips check to see if the marks you made still line up.
