As I was sitting on the deck, with a (tobacco) pipe in my hand, I was curious who smokes cigars and who smokes pipes. I did a thread search and havent found any posts asking this. I actually like both so If you do enjoy either one, let me know your favorites. When i smoke a cigar, I usually enjoy a Tabak from Drew Estate with a nice glass of Bourbon or Scotch. Im still trying to find a good pipe tobacco but enjoy a glass of Cognac with a pipe

Cigars just stink, even good ones. A pipe smells nice for a few minutes, but it gets old and stinky too. And if you smoke either in your home or your car, they will smell really bad really fast. So try to keep it outside.

A good cigar, and a nice glass of scotch, ah that's boating.

I enjoy a good cigar. Since they're so bad for me I don't keep them on hand. Before a camping trip I order a bundle from CI, and when they're gone they're gone. I occasionally smoke one on the deck, but that's a rarity. The admiral is very tolerant because she knows it will never become a habit. The admiral jr. on the other hand........ "Daddy, you stink!"

Re: Cigars vs. Pipes

Over my 60 or so years as a practicing nicotine addict I smoked both pipe and cigars as well as, for a while, cigarettes. Cigarettes were tasteless. I gave them up completely in the 60s.

I never found a cigar that smelled as good as it tasted or a pipe fill that tasted as good as it smelled. I stopped smoking in my house about 1980, smoking only miniature cigars outdoors and only 2 or 3 puffs each light-up. I stopped smoking about 3 years ago, except for a very rare Cuban, with a dram of single malt 18, with my son, maybe once or twice a year.

I guess that makes me a premium cigars only, and only once or twice a year.

A good friend of mine liked pipes and cigars too. Five months ago he had his tongue and half his lower jaw removed because the cancer had spread from his tongue to his lower jaw. He is now a recluse and eats via a feeding tube.

Not quite the replies I was hoping for. My intention was to hear from members who enjoy a good cigar with a glass of scotch or like to light a pipe once in awhile, and hear what they liked to smoke. Im sure we are all aware of the health risks associated with smoking, or drinking, or eating meat, or not eating meat, or too much sun exposure, or not enough sun exposure, etc.

I like a good cigar once in awhile with a little White Label Scotch to enhance the experience.
Last month I came across Zig Zag cigars and have found them to be of my liking.:)

I like Black & Milds when I'm drinking... I typically only smoke them when boating and sometimes during a night out on the town.

Ok, maybe I was harsh but this is a family site and kids read it. Telling them how great a smoke (any sort) tastes may not be such a good thing. Maybe include a Surgeon General's warning in your posts?

Kids can't buy cigars or any tobacco until they are 18. When they become old enough, they can make there own choices. ;)

I appreciate that Bubba. WARNING: The use of ANY type of tobacco is extremely dangerous to your health and can cause serious health issues as well as increasing your chances for an early grave.

Personally If I'm in the mood for a Cigar, you can't go wrong with anything Fuente.
The Fuente Canones is a favorite. I also like the Monte Cristo No. 2, or most things from the Acid Cigars.

SURGEON GENERAL WARNING: Cigar Smoking Can Cause Cancers Of The Mouth And Throat, Even If You Do Not Inhale.

Re: Cigars vs. Pipes

A good cigar is a beautiful thing. Especially the ones from an island south of Miami, if you can get the real thing. I still have a stash from when the Euro was about 1.2 to the dollar, and expect them to last for quite a few more years at the rate I go through them. A good Scotch is another thing of beauty - but like a woman, has to be at least 18 years old :) Another rule of thumb - if you can pronounce the name of the single-malt on the first try, it's not good Scotch. The other two favorite beverages with good cigars : Drambuie or a well made micro-brewed root beer. Yes, root beer. For some reason I can't stand regular beer with a cigar. YMMV.

Golly, sounds like too many nanny people. I prefer the new electronic pipe........ propylene glycol is better for your health. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

I agree!
Personally, I enjoy a good dark maduro cigar on occasion..My Boss has a source for Cubans, Cohibas mainly. I enjoy the Cohiba's, but a bit too creamy for me..More like sugar & cream in my coffee, when I like it black and strong. I have had a few Davidoffs, and well, overpriced and not what Id spend my money on.
Currently cigar of choice is C.A.O's Brazils and 2nd brand is Onyx.
