A single malt and a good cigar go hand in hand. I very rarely have either one tho, I'm a beer guy 99.9% of the time. But there is a bottle of Glenmirange (sp) stashed in the galley. :D

Oddly enough, I just noticed today that another Cigar shop is opening on the drive to our store in St. Pete Beach FL. That's three - that I know of - in the neighborhood. Must be something to it?

A good cigar, and a nice glass of scotch, ah that's boating.

Exactly!!! My standard pedestrian cigar and scotch are The Balvenie Double Wood and 5 Vegas Series A/Mac Maduro/Monte Cristo Medio Noche/Onyx Reserve.:D

Re: Cigars vs. Pipes

I used to smoke a pipe, but haven't done so in a long time. Too much fiddling involved. Nowadays, I enjoy the occasional cigar, maybe once a month or so. I frankly don't know a lot about cigars except I don't care for the El Cheapos. My wife buys me samplers from an online cigar store, from the mild to medium range.

To me, a bottle of scotch is a lifetime supply; I can't stand the stuff. So I'll usually have a beer or glass or red wine with my cigar. So sue me. :)

I was a high speed packaging mechanic for 5 yrs for Middleton...they make the pipe tobacco cigars . They import tobacco from every continent on earth. The first part of the processing , is to deep freeze the tobacco to kill the insects. This takes over a week. I have seen the remains of insects that have been found in the tobacco that are HUGE. They do not pick the insects out of the tobacco...it ALL gets processed.

I've been a pipe smoker for a few years, my mail order blend of choice is McClleland TQ, while my over the counter choice is Captain Black(white label). Both have excellent room notes with no tounge bite.

For the holier than thou types: I assume you've never desicrated your bodies by drinking, drugs, piercing, or getting a tattoo. I also assume you eat only organic food, ride a bicycle to work, and only have a sail boat. It's my choice, after all, this is still America.

I too enjoy a good cigar and god forbid i am a cig smoker. I enjoy both but if equally but with a glass of scotch or burbon I enjoy Havana honey cigars. I apologize to no one for my habit.

Thanks for the welcome, my apologies if I offended anyone, I didn't mean to come unglued like that, I just don't care for people who point fingers and say "shame" when I am the one who is making a legal choice to smoke a pipe, eat a big mac, or drive a vehicle that gets 8 mpg. I'm sure we all have vices that others don't like, but if it's legal and not affecting me, carry on.

2nd that! I'd go have a cigar with my coffee this morning, but it's Mothers day. I'd never hear the end of it. Was going to wake up the boat today...that got shot down. Oh well, Busy weekend next week (including a cigar!)
