Circulation water pump small hole blocked ????

Guys
Just fitting a new water pump,removed old one and noticed the small hole on left hand side was blocked both on the block and pump,cleaned hole on block the best I could,what is this or where does it go and would it be ok to give it a last with some air to make sure it's not blocked.

Ayuh,.... It's just an air bleed hole that goes into the block, right where ya see it,...

Might be a better idea to try and suck any unseen left over junk out first before shooting some air in there as precautionary measure.

It just goes into the water jacket in the block so you can blow it out if you want. I believe it was the thermostat bypass for the automotive engine and is not necessary with the marine raw water cooling system.

Ayuh,.... It only goes as far as ya can see,...

Blow into it, 'n the cruds gonna blow right back out at ya through the bigger holes,...
