Clairification on non-members

[Plainsman]

There have been several questions about non-iboats members (politicians) and if 'nick names' that we, as members use at times. I was told by JB that respect to those folks must be used. I have no problem with that at all, but please clairify for all members what that is.
So would it be best to use Congressman.... and senator..and VP...and President.....
So if "W" is ok for President Bush the "F" Kerry is OK correct? I am just trying to get this straight, that's all.

You are not being very 'critical' Haut. It is 'F' Kerry because he told us so. Once again he was trying to present himself as someone other that who he really is. (JFK, get it, or maybe you understand the Decorated Vet routine)

The F stands for Forbes. JFK are his initials but we never would have known if he did not have a desperate desire to appear to be someone that he is not.

In reality it should be John B Kerry, the B standing for Botox.8)

"W" is not a nickname I coined. The letter "W" does not represent a group of people nor is it slanderous. "W" was approved by the person in which I use it.

Both sides of the fence refer to the Prez as "W". In fact, he has approved bumper stickers to read, "W in 04."

The "F," used by many to describe Kerry is a sarcastic attempt to discredit him.

BTW, for a person so up on the rules, you should know this sort of question should be addressed through PM's to the mods. Please reread posting rules.

This may be a little OT, but I have always found it disrespectful when the media refers to our President as "Mr. Bush". He's not "Mr. Bush", he is "President Bush". I would feel the same about referring to our President regardless of who he was and whether or not I was keen on him.

BTW, I like it when people, in arguing, make derrogatory references such as "Dubya", etc.. In Logic, and thus arguments (at least among men), when someone attacks the person instead of the premises it is one of the first signals that their argument is weak or fatally structured. It is nearly a concession of the point.

Spot on bjcsc, never made any difference to me who was President, he still should be shown the respect as Mr. President or President Bush or whomever.

To be correct the first refrence in a statement should address the title of the person spoken of as President Bush, Theitafter, it is correct to call him Mr. Bush or W if it suits ya. 8)o

Where do you find shelter and comfort when there is no one to babysit for you? I personally can't think of a worse modern domestic politician then Senator Kerry. He testafies under oath (with a straight face, [which is not easy with that mug: CYJ]) that our wonderfull service people are worse then Genghis Kahn's hords, (which was Soviet propaganda: BTW). OMR, I don't support Kerry. You may call him whatever you are happy with. I have never objected to your language to describe him. Even if I did support him, I would still not care.

I simply gave a possible reason why one initial may be allowed to describe the Prez while F may not be appropriate here on this forum to describe Kerry.

You would have to ask them though.

I'm confused. I re-read the Docside Chat Guidlines and no where did it say that I couldn't refer to the village idiot as "W". Is there another set of rules somewhere that I've missed?

so, why would you want to call the President of your country a village idiot in the first place? I think DC rules were written as a guideline to respect any and all, would you like to be called an idiot ?
