Based on the windshield frame, it looks like it might be a Lyman.

Here's some images I found of a 1960 Lyman 19. You decide:

Thanks, the guy has the original title, it was a one owner boat before he got it I believe, we'll find out tomorrow. I just wanted some of the tack off it but my friend who works for a restoration business ,it's for him now as he wanted all the original parts and promissed me equal or better "parts" in return. Chrome spotlight, trumpet air horns, mirror, skinny steering wheel ,all that jazz for my '69 arrow glass. It's gonna look awesome. I was just gonna have a bon fire with the rest of the boat until I called him:D! It seemed sacrilege if it was in decent shape so , maybe she will live on. I will post some pix though.

I was going to say Lyman too, the front strake pattern and the windshield frame do resemble theirs.
But after a longer look, it looks like one of those Simmon's Sea Skiff kits from the back of Popular Mechanics or the likes.
Being that they were sold as kits, it may very well have an old Lyman windshield on it.
There were other boats sold as plans or kits as well all the way up through the 70's.

Well, I did some research on the Simmon's Sea Skiff kits, apparently there is a owners website(imagine that !LOL) but through all the tons of photos I have seen none look quite as mine. They all have the tweaked up bows and this bow also has more of a straight lo0ok like the Lymans. The guy I got it from is sending the title to me and he said he thought it was a '65 Skill craft or something like that. My friend is taking it to work tomorrow at his place of employment where this is exactly the kind of stuff they do (antique boat registration. should know tomorrow for sure. If you look at the photos though inside the bow all the wood grain matches up like a professionally built boat. Maybe the kits were this good too I dunno but I am very curious to find out about it . It will be restored regardless!

here's the wood grain... oughta curiousity how much were these kits back then? There is a tone of tack and rivets for a top as well . Were they like just instructions and blue prints or what?

Re: Classic boat identity help

found this too:

Simmons Sea Skiffs
Simmons Sea Skiff

"The Simmons Sea Skiffs were developed by a man named T.N. Simmons, as outboard powered fishing boats for use in the inlets and open ocean of the North Carolina coast. The boats have the bow of a traditional New England Banks Dory, a shallow v-bottom, and a high, raking transom with the motor mounted in a well. "

no dory bow here:confused:
