I just loved the "How Old Is Your Boat" thread but I REALLY love the classic cruisers so I thought I would start a thread specifically to post pictures of your classic cabin cruisers (or larger boats).

Mine is a 1966 Lone Star Cruise Liner III built by Chrysler. It is 24 feet, powered by a Slant Six and a Volvo Penta 270 outdrive.

I absolutely LOVE this boat!

Not exactly a cruiser (OK, so it's a runabout), but here are a few of my favorites.

Re: Classic Cruisers

Here's my 20' Beachcraft by Reinell that I bought in Jan of this year. It had an OMC I/O, took it out once then decided to convert the I/O to an OB. By mounting a Gil bracket, I've now gained more fishing space comparable to 22 footer. Powered by a 150 hp Yamaha that pushes the cruiser at 35mph. BTW I just re-powered again from the pictured 150hp 2 stroke Yamaha to a 150hp 4 stroke Yamaha.

Dianne-I love the old LoneStars.

they have quite the history-research them. you'll find sales brochures online. I do not think Chrysler owned them but a few years--i used to know a guy that had a JohnnyRude outboard on his that was called " Seven Pistols"-he said thats what he traded for the boat!

love yer Cruise Liner III DianeB. that's a sweet boat....

cool mod (i/o to o/b) to your Beachcraft too Reel Kahuna. looks like that works reel well...

can't decide if i should post mine up or not as it's not a cabin cruiser. mine's more of what i'd call a hardtop pleasure boat. that i try to use as a cabin cruiser...

Wow, nice looking boat Dianne. Is that the Star Trek symbol on the side? What a classic!

It is. A previous owner was a Star Trek fan and named the boat Enterprise. With a major re-fit this winter and painting in the spring, it will be renamed Nefarious Enterprise (more in keeping with the present owner's sense of mischief  )

Ziggy, any hardtop would be more than welcome! :D

There are a lot more pictures of Enterprise at http://s163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/diannebest/Lone Star/ and my web page is at http://dianneb.unlimitedtree.com/Lonestar/Lonestar1.html

I like those Lone Star cruisers too, I was looking and found a 1966 Marinette that I could trailer. Then I ended up with a newer 1973 Marinette. Both had the wooden wheel like the you added, my favorite.

Re: Classic Cruisers

Definately a dated photo....August 1970. She's a Chris Craft 23' Express - a kit boat. (Bet you didn't know CC sold kits did you?)

She was built in 1953 and came with the original Grey 60HP engine. Had been out of the water for several years.

My first attempt at anything that dilapitated. The engine was froze. Poured a gallon of penetrating oil in the cylinders and let her soak while we stripped, painted and varnished. After about a month, a pipe wrench on the prop shaft finally got some movement.

Three months to the day and launching came. She turned over but wouldn't fire. A new coil from the Massey-Ferguson tractor supply down the street and she purred like a kitten.
