I have a 1999. Johnson 90hp and engine is not starting because of sitting awhile, I would like to know of a way to clean or soak carbs without removing them, I have spray and seafoam,

There is no way to do it well or right. Just pull your carbs, disassemble, and do it proper. It's not rocket science. Depending on model you may have to do the throttle body as well

Take the float bowl plugs out and pump some fresh fuel through the system. Then try and start it.

There is a risk to running a motor with blocked carburetor passages.----There is a risk of damaging internal parts !-----A reduction / lack of fuel also means less oil.-----Many folks fail in knowledge of the concept.

That particular motor has a likelyhood of warped bowls. Took a look at a friends 1999 90hp, and couldnt believe it was running with sever warpage and fuel flowing out. If they are warped, replace them.

Thanks for the replies I'll order the kits for them and give it a go

Depending on whether its a looper or not, which comes down to year and model number, you may need to do the throttle bodies. In fact, the throttle bodies are usually more of the problem than the carbs when it comes to idle and off idle issues. i do not recall your specific problem.

We may want to start at the beginning with your motor and not jump right into the carbs. Knowing what it needs is tough over the net because we dont really know what you have, what you've done, and what your situation is.

The beginning for a motor that will not start is:

1. Fuel Sample into a clear container.
2. Open air gap spark check using the appropriate tool.
3. Compression test.
4. A description of your "cold start procedure". (Do not take offense, this is the net and it will blow your mind as to how many
folks don't know how to start a motor and don't know how the "choke/primer/enrichener" really works. Not to mention how to engage the fast idle.)
