thanks to whoever suggested a while back about using toilet cleaner,i broke down and tried it was just d-m amazing!the hull is white and was stained with grass and brownstuff used everkind of cleaner and rubbing compond and wouldt get it so saturday,bought some works toilet cleaner wiped it on went to turn the hose pipe on and came back that one spot was bright white did the entire boat with it no scubbing just wiped on let sit for 3 to 4 minutes sprayed off lookes brand new.after done put to coats of wax on,

its called the works,you can buy it at dollar tree or dollar general $1.00 a bottle.it was just amazing how clean it is now.

Don't worry Rinker ...<br /><br />It stays white until you flush the motor - then it all turns blue!

its a clear liquid.need to use gloves i didnt and it started burning my hands so every few minuetes i would rinse hands and boat wish i couldve took some before and after pics.

Think I'll have to try this... I got down under my boat and tried to scrub some brown off that had been sitting for a couple years.

Try Barkeepers Friend! Comes in a cardboard can for about $4 at Wal-Mart, in the kitchen cleaning section. Wipe on, rinse off: no rubbing.<br />It's the oxallic acid.

Sounds like a decent product that really does work, but does anyone know if this will hurt the gelcoat?

Any marine hull cleaner based on Oxalic acid (there are several brands) will remove brown stain and waterline scum very effectively. I don't know why you would need to use toilet bowl cleaner when there are products spcifically designed for gelcoat rather than china. I'm sure the toilet stuff is cheaper but are we really talking significant money here?

That "Works" toilet bowl cleaner is some pretty potent stuff.... I remember in college we used to use it to make 2-liter bombs.... We tore up a bunch of aluminum foil into little pieces and dropped it in the bottle just until the bottom of the 2 liter was covered with it. Sometimes we would use cut up beer cans. Then we would squirt the "works" in there, about a 1/2" in depth... Mix it around, put the cap on the bottle.... Throw that baby! About 2 minutes later the works would react with the foil and start to build pressure. It would blow the top of the bottle up like a ballon until it exploded.... Extrememly loud, by the way <br /><br />Hence, don't let it touch aluminum....

worked great for me then waxed real good,$1.00 a bottle,not about the money i just hate to go to wal-mart unless i have to.

I have been using the walmart(Sno bowl) .99 cent toilet cleaner and recommending it here for 2 years now .It works great.I had always used On-Off by Marykate for about $10 a bottle.Both are the same type of acid and work almost the same.The On-Off is a little better.It takes 2 bottles to do my entire bottom and drives and trimtabs.No adverse effects as long as you rinse it well and then rinse it again after the first rinse has almost dried.Charlie
