Re: Cleaning an SKS

Ya know, I'm glad this was brought up....had a rainy day today, and m-ted the gun safe. All re oiled, and looking good (jeez..forgot just what was stuffed in there!). Although not needed where I live..(too rural to drive out a 9 mile road to steal something, then have to drive back on the same (only...peninsula) road with a tight cocked and unlocked community).
Curious..how many loaded ya got in yer dog patch?
Colt Anaconda under the bed...
Mossberg combo 12Ga with pistol and short barrel in the second BR closet..
Out in the shop is a 9 shot Taurus with Snake shot in it, and a Taurus 38 with hollows.
Never know when a bear, coyote, who knows will come drifting in..(anyone found here at night, will be found here in the morning)
Case has the SKS (muzzle brake too..probably illegal), Mauser Carbine, Ruger 10-22, RWS Diana, Chinese spring piston too, that is more accurate than the Diana, few pellet pistol guns..(spring)...plus some unmentionables I care not to admit too..and I aint talking panties!)
Ya know the rule..better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it...and the only gun lock I own is common sense......

Oh yeah, on the PB Blaster, I squirt some down the barrel (SKS) after shooting with the corrosive, OK 'till I get around to cleaning it...always bring at least 6 guns when we go plinking in the hills..

You are supposed to clean the barrel with soap and water after using the corrosive ammo because the acids are water soluble and the petroleum based cleaners won't effectively remove them. After you clean with s+w, then clean again with regular solvents, then lubricate sparingly.

shhhh, we have the concealed carry down here.

I have my concealed permit as well. Act 235 is armed security, bodyguard, repo, bounty hunting, etc. but only enables you to carry while on the job. The concealed permit enables me to carry anytime. I believe in cocked and locked. "Isn't that dangerous?" "Let me take you to the firing range and I'll show you just how dangerous it is." - Clarice Starling from "Hanibal".
