Cleaning Carb

Hey guys, This is my next step in my {No WOT} Compression is fine as is spark. Now I have got the carbs off, waiting on the new gaskets. Any input on how or what to watch for while cleaning. All I have is to spray every hole and hit with compressed air. Anything else to look for while I am in here? Thanks
By the way nothing was visible or out of the ordinary but I guess that means nothing.

Take the carb completely apart and submerge all of the parts in carburetor cleaner, let em soak for a while. Then pull them out and dry completely with compressed air. Check carefully for any cracks in the housing and take a look at the needle and seat. If you were not getting WOT I would suspect the jet(s). Then reassemble with a carb kit and put them back on. I rebuilt mine this past winter along with the fuel pump and I couldn't believe the difference. Good Luck

Thanks for the input, I think what was happening was the oil that overflowed out of the reservoir was going directly in the number 3 carb when I started it up. That carb had some corrosion or oil buildup built up around the butterfly. The sucky part is... the dang on thing is only fours years old. How often should this be done?

I don't think there is really a set time for when they should be done. Most people have to rebuild them if they sit for a long time or do not winterize them properly. I don't know how much you use your boat but I guess four years seems about right.

P.S. This was the issue with not getting past 4000 rpms. i am going to lean the carbs out a little. They are set out to 1 and a half. I am going to set them at 1.25 or so until it smooths out a little at idle.
